Her Story Week 2

Sharable notes for the May 14, 2023 message. You can post these notes on your social platform!

Scriptures used: Ruth 1:8-22; 2:3, 5, 20; 4:13-17

Passages referenced: Judges 21:25; Philippians 3:7-11; Matthew 1:5

  • Can people look at your life and say "I want your God to be my God!"

  • What we often see as chance is actually the sovereign hand of God at work.

  • God will use the least likely and unpredictable circumstances to pave a path in our life to redemption.

  • We have to learn that God works through availability just as much as he does through ability. When we focus too much on our ability rather than just being available we try to make things happen on our own.

  • Through Jesus we can see the unloved loved, the poor restored, the bitter sweetened, and an inheritance that was lost because of sin reclaimed by redemption.

  • God will birth something special through your persistence and faithfulness.

  • The gospel beckons all those who are thirsty to come to the one who can fulfill your greatest thirst. Come to the one who can redeem your life.

  • God want’s to redeem you, rewrite your story and repurpose your life.

Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:

  • What followers of Christ have you been drawn towards? What is it about their life that stands out and causes you to want to follow God more?

  • How persistent and determined are you in serving God? Why do you answer that way?

  • How have you seen God at work in your life when you looked back at situations, but didn't realize it at the time of the situation?

  • In what ways is God working through you to point others to their redemption in Christ?

This devotional provides five practical lessons to apply to your life after heartbreak. If you have walked through a season similar to Ruth and Naomi, be encouraged. God is always working. In His sovereignty, He allows relationships to end, allows death, separation, and abandonment. But when we trust Him, even when we feel bitter and forsaken, God promises to work things together for our good.
