Episode 9
Tim Elmore wrote a great book called “The Eight Paradoxes of Great Leadership.” In it he looks at different qualities that could seem to be contradictory, but actually help balance each other. They are also qualities that every great leader needs in their life. I encourage you to pick up a copy to see how he describes them in detail, and the examples of leaders who illustrate these qualities well.
The fourth paradox he mentions is stubborness and open-mindedness. Watch the video for a quick explanation and then consider these questions:
Would you be described more as a stubborn person or an open minded person? Why is that?
If you are described as one over the other, would you say then that you struggle with the other? How could you improve in the area you would perceive you are weaker?
What are good things to be stubborn about and what are good things to be open minded to?
What do you think it means to not confuse methods with mission?
