As In Heaven Part 1
Sharable notes for the September 27, 2020 message. You can post these notes on your social platform!
Scriptures used: Matthew 6:9-10; Luke 10:25-37; Acts 26:19; Mark 12:32-34;
Not only can your life be lived genuinely and fully in eternity, Jesus has called us to this life now. Jesus is calling His followers to live a life worthy and representative of the Kingdom of God, the one who holds eternity, on earth as in Heaven.
Rather than simply looking to get into the Kingdom of Heaven, we need to strive to get the Kingdom of Heaven into the world around us.
Make sure you are representing the culture of the Kingdom of God correctly because there are others who may be following your lead.
The Kingdom of God is defined by a culture of love. It's a love that crosses social barriers. One that acts regardless of convenience and whether or not we think what someone is going through is justified. It's a love that takes on the burdens of others not just our own. One that operates beyond religious duty and out of a way of life.
Jesus didn't just give new rules to follow, He established a new reality. Following Jesus is more than following commands, it's about culture. Jesus clarified the culture, the ethos, by which the Kingdom of Heaven is to be represented.
We are saved by radical grace and we are to become givers of radical grace.
Followers of Christ should not look to condemn the world, to moral majority the world, or to simply survive the world. We are here to transform the world by living out the Kingdom ethos on earth as in Heaven!
Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:
If you went back over your social media posts, your conversations this week, what ethos or culture would you say is most represented in your life?
Who do you have the hardest time loving? God, yourself, or others?
What steps can you take to get better at loving in that area?
Did you see anything different or new from the story of the Good Samaritan? What ethos was Jesus trying to demonstrate through this story?
