Scriptures used: Matthew 5:9; 9:35-36; Isaiah 53:5; Ephesians 1:11-13

  • In the midst of the virus, violence and vitriol we are called as followers of Christ to make peace.

  • To make peace we may have to pay a price and it will take time, but it is worth it.

  • As followers of Christ we are to demonstrate peace because we are followers of the Prince of Peace.

  • Evil is all around us, but scripture gives us instruction: detest evil, turn from evil, pray that God delivers us from evil, reject every kind of evil, fear no evil, don’t be conquered by evil but overcome evil with good, don’t repay evil with evil.

  • "Then pealed the bells more loud and deep; God is not dead nor does He sleep. The wrong will fail, the right prevail, with peace on earth good will to men.” Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:

  • What does it mean to be a peacemaker?

  • Is it difficult to be someone that makes for peace? Why is that?

  • What should be our reaction and response in the midst of evil?
