  • “Sexual freedom has become a new religion.” Dr. Christopher Yuan

  • A consumer relationship says that if you can’t meet my needs I will have them met somewhere else. A covenant relationship says I will adjust to you because I’ve made a promise, and the relationship is more important than my needs.

  • Our bodies are vehicles for our souls; souls created in the image of God; souls created to know God and to know others like God knows them. Don’t do anything to separate your soul from your creator.

  • "The monstrosity of sex outside marriage is that those who indulge in it are trying to isolate one kind of union, the sexual, from all the other kinds of union which were intended to go along with it and make up the total union.” C.S. Lewis

  • The unconditional love of God is not the same thing as the unconditional approval of my behavior.

  • You cannot love Jesus and still pursue what put him on the cross.

  • God has to be our first love for everything else to be fulfilled in our life.

  • Whoever drinks the water of the world will just get thirsty again. But whoever drinks of the living water will never be driven by their physical thirsts.

  • The cross can make what has become bitter in your life sweet.

Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:

  • If someone younger than you asked you for one piece of advice about sex, what would you tell them? What would you tell them about the purpose of sex?

  • How has your view of sex been defined in your life?

  • In what way have you seen that sex is more than physical or casual?

  • If single, what decisions can you make today in order to invest in your marriage tomorrow in regards to physical intimacy?

  • If married, what can you begin to do today to see the benefits of physical intimacy enjoyed in your marriage the way God intended? Where do you need to find healing?

Money handlers at the Treasury learn to spot counterfeit bills by familiarizing themselves with intricate patterns found in the real thing. Likewise, understanding the brokenness of sexual sin begins with God’s design for authentic sexual intimacy. The sacredness of human sexuality transcends the physical act itself. It reflects God’s holiness, His relationship within the Trinity, and His desire to conform your body, soul, and mind to the image of Christ.
