Scriptures used: Galatians 4:9; 21-31; John 8:31-44, 56-58
Scriptures referenced: Genesis 16:12; Luke 15:11-32
A heart to honor the law means that you have a heart to honor the father. You’re not obeying to gain something for yourself you’re honoring out of love for your father.
What we produce according to our will outside the Father only works against what God produces through His will.
It’s only when you realize your barrenness outside of Christ, and have no ability on your own to make anything happen, that God provides a way.
We are all, in Christ, sons and daughters of God, family with one another.
Our barrenness is not a position we have to stay enslaved to. Our barren place provides Christ an opportunity to birth something through us.
Our barren place could be a lesson in:
tested faith (see Sarah)
intercession (see Rebekah and Isaac)
longing and unconditional love (see Leah)
jealousy and trusting the sovereignty of God (see Rachel)
surrender (see Samson's mother)
spiritual warfare (see Hannah)
timing (see Elizabeth)
obedience despite experience and risk (see Mary)There is no limit to what God can birth in you. We just have to trust Him and surrender and obey.
Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:
Have you ever tried to make something happen outside of the right time? How did things turn out?
How hard is it to trust God's timing when He's not moving as fast as you wanted him to?
Have you ever felt like nothing was happening in your life, like you were barren? What could God possibly be showing you during this time?
