Galatians Week 8

Scriptures used: Galatians 5:1-25
God doesn’t want your rebellion nor your religiosity, he wants relationship.
Love is produced—not by going through a list of what you must do, but by soaking in the truth of what Christ has done.
Life in the Spirit is not static and inactive, but it is faith working through love, not the flesh working through self-effort.
It’s Jesus and his blood alone that covers a multitude of sins. Jesus said It is Finished. Not partly done or mostly done. Finished. His blood is strong enough to pay for our sins. We don’t need anything in addition to it, nor do we need to do anything that cheapens it.
Grace is not freedom to sin. Grace is freedom from sin.
When we are out of fellowship with the Father, it will manifest itself in our relationships with others.
Our attempts to control the flesh will not work. The only way to escape our cravings is to replace them with God.
The more our love and devotion to Christ grows in our life, the more the power of sin dies in our life, and the more we desire to live our life to honor God.
Where the Spirit is at work, holiness becomes a delight, and serving God is a continual joy.
Don’t look at the list of the fruit of the Spirit as a list of things you need to do something to become, look at is as a description of who Christ was and is for you. The more you hunger and thirst after Christ the more this fruit will appear.
Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:
Do you enjoy going on walks? When you walk with others, do you find yourself having good conversations?
Why do you think Paul encourages followers of Christ to walk by the Spirit?
What does Paul show in Galatians 5 to be the answer to living between the tension of rebellion and religiosity?
