King - Week 1

Sharable notes for the December 4, 2022 message. You can post these notes on your social platform!

Scriptures used: Matthew 2:1-12; Galatians 4:4-5; 1 Timothy 6:15; Jeremiah 2:13; Revelation 19:11-16; Psalms 24:7
Passages referenced: Daniel 9:24-27; Numbers 24:17; John 3:1-21; 4:1-26

  • Who or what are you pursuing? Who or what are you bowing down to in life? We strive to build our own kingdom, put ourselves, someone or something else on the throne, but the throne of our life is meant for God and God alone.

  • The response of the wise men at the time of the birth of Christ was to pursue him, rejoice at finding him and to worship him as king. Is this our response to Jesus?

  • You must be renewed by the Spirit to have your thirst in life fully satisfied, and you must worship Him renewed in that Spirit, knowing the truth of who Jesus is.

  • The great thing about King Jesus - this king did not come to be served but to serve. The great thing about King Jesus - this king was himself a gift. The great thing about King Jesus - this king doesn’t just bring salvation, He is salvation.

  • Jesus Christ is a king of indescribable goodness, incomprehensible power, and irresistible grace. He is the King that death could not defeat and the grave could not hold.

Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:

  • What kind of understanding have you had about the story of the wise men coming to see Jesus?

  • If someone looked at your pursuits in life, what would they say your greatest desires are?

  • Would others say that you allow Christ to be King of your life, or would they say you live according to your own desires? Why do you answer the way you do?

The Magi’s role in the Christmas narrative resonates across the centuries. However, their spiritual and historical significance reaches far beyond the decorative mangers and religious portrayal as the “three wise men.” In looking at the way God used the Magi as part of His redemptive plan, you will see their story with new eyes.
