It’s hard to make the proper space to have a proper perspective on money when we are constantly filling our spaces with more stuff. We have to shift our perspective from I like, I love it, I want some more of it to I’m thankful, I’m blessed, I don’t need it.
Don’t trade what God can give you for what you are trying to pursue yourself. Don’t trade your productivity in the kingdom for the satisfaction of self.
Our desire to be more and to have more will cost us more than we realize.
If our momentary contentment is defined by obtaining more things, then we are putting more worth on what we obtain than the worth we have in God.
Contentment is found in redirecting our pursuit. Run from the pursuit of more and instead pursue righteousness.
We call our pursuit of more good intentions but if it’s destroying our family, destroying us and destroying our faith, it is not of God.
What we pursue is important because what we pursue proves what we love, and what we love has power over us.
Pursue God who is your true source of hope, enjoy what He’s blessed you with, then do good.
Create a habit of intentional gratitude:
- Pray prayers of thanksgiving.
- Start a gratitude journal.
- Have someone you can tell every day something you are thankful for.
- Share as a family during dinner something you are grateful for.
Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:
How easy do you fall prey to marketing and advertising? When you see the newest thing do you have to have it?
Why do you think we love to obtain stuff and store away stuff?
On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate your level of contentment? How would someone close to you rate your level of contentment?
What steps do you need to take today to begin to learn contentment in your life?
