Scriptures used: 1 John 1:1-3; 2:3-5, 9-11, 15-17; 3:1-3; John 1:14
How could John see his friends die for their faith and still believe God is love? How could John keep his faith? Because John saw love, heard love, touched love, watched love die, and saw love rise again in Jesus.
Life can be hard because of sin. Sin is cruel and unjust, but the truth remains that God IS Love!
In a world filled with hate and violence, we are called and blessed to proclaim that there is a love that will forgive, receive, restore, and renew.
When our life is motivated by loving God and loving others everything changes, our thought process, our motives, our actions.
Living our life a certain way as Christians is not about checking off boxes of do's and don'ts, it’s about loving Jesus.
In our life as followers of Christ there is no room for hate. Hate binds, but love covers a multitude of sins, including our own.
When we view life from the lens of eternity, our view of what's important changes, and so do our pursuits.
Jesus wasn't a 50/50 balance of grace and truth, Jesus was full of both grace and truth. All grace and no truth leads to sin. All truth and no grace leads to self-righteous legalism.
Jesus called sin sin and called sinners sinners, then He died for our sins so that we could be set free to live lives full of grace and truth.
When the church lives in the power of God’s truth, the love of Jesus, and the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, we can turn our world upside down!
