Scriptures used: Matthew 14:22-31; 25:35-40

  • Jesus may show up in our life in ways that we weren't expecting.

  • Faith may lead us in directions we didn't think we were prepared for, but keeping our focus on Christ will keep our head above the waters.

  • You may be waiting on instructions but if you've received encouragement and permission from the Holy Spirit instructions may not come until you start moving.

Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:

  • When Christ calls you towards something new, are you quick to embrace it or are you fearful? Why do you think that is?

  • When storms come in your life, do you find yourself focused more on the storms or on Christ? If the storm, how can you change that? If Christ, how can you encourage someone in their storm?

  • Ask someone close to you if they would consider you a positive person or a negative person. If they say negative, what steps can you take to begin to change that?

When life’s storms appear, do you know who you are and whose you are? Your storm doesn’t define you. Your burdens don’t define you. Your past doesn’t define you. Your circumstances don’t define you. What defines you, my friend, is your Creator. Each day of this devotion we’ll learn how to speak God’s word to our storms and over our lives. Let’s be empowered by His Word!
