In a culture and society where we are pressed to be the biggest, the fastest, the best, when it comes to the kingdom of God, it’s better to last than to go fast!
It doesn’t matter how fast you go in life if you have nothing to pass off to the next generation.
God is a Generational God. From Genesis to Revelation, God is doing a work in and through every generation with the next generation in mind.
If God took the time to remind each generation of His faithfulness, we would be mistaken to think we didn’t need to do the same.
The greatest tool of discipleship for our children is not the church - it's the home, the family, the parents.
What are we handing the next generation - fear or faith; worry or the promises of God?
We cannot afford to drop the baton of faith, worship, generosity, prayer and God's faithfulness.
Your generation's job is to pass the baton. It's the next generation's choice to grab it and to run with it - to run their leg in the race, with their own faith, their own responsibility, for their own generation.
Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:
Have you ever watched relay races in the olympics or any other track event? What kind of pressures do you notice when they have to exchange the batons?
In what ways do you try to disciple those in your home? If you don't have anyone there with you now, how has that looked for you in the past and how can you help others now?
In what ways can you pass the baton of faith, worship, generosity, prayer and God's faithfulness to the next generation?
