Sharable notes for the June 19, 2022 message. You can post these notes on your social platform!

Scriptures used: Judges 6:1-16; 23-32; 7:1-7; 16-21; Revelation 12:9-11
Passages referenced: Ephesians 6:10-17

  • According to US Census Bureau, 18.4 million children, 1 in 4, live without a biological, step or adoptive father in the home. Men we need to step up. Young men need father figures in their life.

  • Your calling is not based on your courage. Your courage comes as a result of your calling.

  • God is not looking at you and starting with what you are right now, or what you are before He enters your life. He starts with what He intends to make you in Christ. He knows what you can become, and He wants to call that out in you.

  • We’re asking the question, "God where are you?", and God’s looking back at us saying "I’m waiting on you."

  • What if we went into every situation truly believing God is with us and God is in us? Courage comes from us following God even in the midst of our fear.

  • Our courage comes from the presence and promises of God, and those are given to us through the gospel of Christ. He gives us courage to be a champion and to champion His mission.

  • There’s some people you have to release from your life until they are ready to fight the same kind of spiritual battle as you.

  • The purposes of God advance when the people of God stand firm.

  • Do not let fear of inadequacy, failure, or inability keep you from championing the people God has put in your life and the mission God has put in your life. You are a champion.

Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:

  • What are the inner fears you battle in your life? Is it failure, inadequacy, something else? In what ways do those fears paralyze you?

  • Gideon was doing his work while hiding in a hole because of fear. Are you afraid to be public in your faith? Why do you think that is? If not, where do you find your courage?

  • Are there things in your life, or people in your life, that you know you need to let go of so that you can stand stronger in your faith?

The call to courage is a central truth of Scripture. How do we choose courage in the face of fear? How do we engage in the fight, and who is the fight against? In this five-day series on courage, Yellow Balloons will explore the Bible’s call to courage. We pray it equips and emboldens you to fight the good fight of faith.
