Scriptures used: Luke 2:8-10; Philippians 4:4-9; Hebrews 11:8-10; Revelation 1:17-18; Isaiah 46:10; Galatians 3:6-9; 4:4-7; Matthew 1:20; Psalms 37:3; Ephesians 1:9-11

  • “Fear is when we have more confidence in something going wrong than we do in God’s ability to keep things right.” Melva Henderson

  • When things in the middle of life don't make sense, we can have faith in the one who is the beginning and the end, who holds everything in the middle together. Our faith can remain in Christ.

  • Christmas reminds us that we don't have to fear the unknown or the uncertain because God is with us.

  • When things feel uncertain or unknown, keep living where God has you the way Christ taught us to live, and walk by faith trusting Him.

  • The one thing we can be certain in is that God is in control, He has a purpose, and we can be a part of it.

  • If God is asking you to take a step of faith, a step that requires you to walk by faith not by sight, here’s what you need to remember - the outcome is God’s, obedience is yours.

  • “Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him.” Charles Stanley

Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:

  • What is your greatest fear?

  • Do you ever fear the unknown or find yourself afraid when things around you are uncertain? Why is that?

  • What do you think it means to walk by faith and not by sight?

  • Have you ever taken a step of faith not knowing how things would play out? Explain that moment.

  • What does it mean to you that the outcome is God's and obedience is yours?

The uncertainty of what’s next gives us plenty of room for anxiety to take root. After all, we should be afraid of what we can’t control, right? But Paul tells us we have another option—one that replaces our fear with a “peace beyond understanding.”
