  • "God never intended for His church to be impotent, His church was always meant to be empowered." Tony Miller

  • As we commune with God through prayer he forms us, fills us and makes us fruitful.

  • We have to shift our mindset in prayer from one that is transactional to one that is formational, from one that treats prayer as supplemental to one that treats prayer as fundamental.

  • “If you are not praying then you are quietly confident that time, money, and talent are all you need in life. You’ll always be a little too tired, a little too busy to pray. But if, like Jesus, you realize you can’t do life on your own, then no matter how busy, no matter how tired you are, you will find the time.” Paul Miller

  • A disciplined prayer life will come when we become desperate for and dependent upon God.

  • When you are desperate for and dependent upon him, then you'll have an honest conversation with your Heavenly Father.

  • Our desperation has to be not for something, but for someone.

  • What could supernaturally be done through God’s church if we prayed for boldness, not just for God to move, but for God to move through us?

  • God answers our prayers from a viewpoint different than ours.

  • The cross is God’s eternal pledge that He’s always working for your good and for His glory.

Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:

  • How would you describe your prayer life?

  • Is prayer more fundamental or supplemental for you? Do you treat it as more transactional, or do you allow it to be formational? How can it become more fundamental and formational for you?

  • How can you become more desperate, bolder, better attentive and trusting in your prayer life?
