Scriptures used: Acts 1:1-14; John 14:16-17,26; Matthew 6:6

  • In the book of Acts we see that before the disciples go out, Jesus wanted them to go in to a place of prayer. We need to follow their example.

  • The doors He’s going to open for you will open when you start spending time in prayer behind closed doors.

  • What are we doing behind closed doors? What we’re focusing on behind closed doors is going to either prepare us to go in the spirit or paralyze us in our flesh.

  • We will not see God move apart from prayer. God in His sovereign and infinite power still works through the prayers of submissive and finite people.

  • Our starting block is a position of prayer.

Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:

  • If you watch races, what impresses you about the way athletes prepare themselves for the race, all the way to the point when the starting gun sounds?

  • Do you ever find yourself reverting back to what was comfortable when God is moving you towards something a little more unknown?

  • How do you think we should prepare ourselves to do what God wants us to do?

  • How often do you spend time praying for God to move and asking Him what He would have you to do?

Prayer is an action of faith that connects us with God, the Father that we do not see but believe exists and hears our calls. The Word of God challenges us to pray at all times, and not only to pray, but to persevere in doing so. Let’s explore together the marvelous experience of the power of prayer.
