Scriptures used: John 15:1-5; Galatians 5:19-21; 1 Timothy 6:10; Ephesians 6:10; Romans 1:25-26, 30, 6:23; Ephesians 3:16-19; Hebrews 12:2; Philippians 3:13-14

  • Something is the primary source of your life. What are you trying to draw your strength, meaning, peace, hope, joy from? Jesus Christ is the only true source of life.

  • The love of money is a false source of life. Life in Christ teaches us to give and when we give we make a declaration of faith that money does not control our life.

  • Power is a false source of life. The Holy Spirit empowers us to serve, and to love others, not to be served..

  • Sexual immorality is a false source of life. Outside of God's plan, sex is an exchange of the truth for a lie.

  • Self is a false source of life. There is an incredible freedom when we die to self and live for Christ.

  • We have to keep our focus on Christ to see our life grow in Him.

Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:

  • What false life source have you fallen for before, or you may be guilty of trusting now?

  • What signs can let you know that your spiritual roots may be getting weaker?

  • How can you remain in Christ and keep your roots strong in Him?

What does a life that is flourishing in the Lord look like? A garden flourishes when the roots of the plants are nourished with rich, fertile soil and sufficient water. In this series, we will explore some Scripture passages that remind us of the practices, convictions and connections which help our faith and lives to flourish, whatever our circumstances.
