Scriptures used: John 16:5-15; Genesis 6:3; Romans 7:23; 8:1-13, 26-27; 12:2; 2 Corinthians 7:10; Ephesians 3:16-20
Passages Referenced: Romans 5:8
We can be convicted because of our sin, but we don’t have to live in condemnation from it. The way to not live in condemnation is to be guided by the Spirit to repentance.
Repentance is the hearts response to what has been revealed to the mind.
Stop letting the enemy use your memory to affect your present day reality, and let the Holy Spirit transform and renew your mind to create a new path for your future.
Jesus’ death released you from the penalty of sin and the resurrecting power of the Spirit releases you from the power of sin.
When God forgives you, he empowers you to walk in a new way.
We’re not sinners because we sin. We sin because by our nature we are sinners. We can overcome the nature of our flesh by submitting to the Spirit of God.
Through Jesus Christ the flesh has to die where the Spirit comes to live.
Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:
In what ways has the phrase "it's for your good" been used by someone to you before? Did you feel like it was for your good when they said it?
How do you think it was for our good that God sent the Holy Spirit to be with those who followed him through Jesus Christ?
In what ways do you ever feel like Paul, at a tug of war between the nature in you that wants to sin and the Spirit of God in you? What do you do to surrender to the Spirit?
