Scriptures used: John 11:20-27; Romans 5:8; John 13:34-35

  • Scripture tells us we are are not those who shrink back and are destroyed. We are those who have faith and are saved, in this life and in the life to come. Jesus' resurrections means we can’t lose.

  • Jesus posed this question to Martha after Lazarus' death, "whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” This question is for us as well.

  • Jesus calls us to follow Him, and to follow His example by loving one another. The church, the body of Christ, is at its best when we are living this truth.

  • Historian Will Durant – “Never had the world seen such a dispensation of alms as was displayed by the church. The church ministered to the poor, sick, prisoner and protected the lower classes from exploitation.”

  • God's call is clear to us today, and that is to love one another.

  • During this season we are in, and everyday, may we live lives that demonstrate Jesus' power and love. Let us love one another as He loves us. Let us share His truth, listen to others, and respond in grace.

Reflect or meet with someone to discuss:

  • What emotions have been brought on by this pandemic we are facing?

  • How have you felt Jesus during this time?

  • When do you feel it's the hardest to believe that you have victory in Christ?

  • How does Jesus' death and resurrection remind you that you matter to Him?

These are unprecedented times for those of us who are alive on planet earth at this moment. Historically, we can find hope if we turn to the One who made it all and is Lord of all. What does the Bible say about why these things happen, what is God’s response to it, and what is my hope in life and death?
